25 Aug 2006 - Finals Day Results

Dianne is a Three Time Winner!

Finals day was held in rapidly changing weather, but the standard of bowling remained high.
The flagship events, the Ladies & Men's Championship singles were keenly fought. In the Ladies event it was 'all square' until the 10th end, when Dianne Clark claimed four shots to edge ahead. She then went on to win 21-17 although Mary Kennedy kept up the pressure. In the Men's final Ralph Bailey won for the second year running, this time heading Sean Dempsey 21-10. After an evenly fought first 12 ends, Ralph dominated the rest of the match, and was delighted at his repeat success.

Dianne Clark was the most successful bowler, winning three competitions, including the Ladies Championship. Dianne also beat Eileen King in the Ladies Also Ran singles with a 26-7 victory, and then followed up in the Ladies Pairs with Joan Winer 28-8 over Eileen King and Ladies Captain, Moo Tookey. The Ladies Two Wood went to Mary Kennedy 17-8, over June Beven, and the Ladies 100 Up singles went to Chris Edwards 105-85 over Carol Searle. The Mixed Triples was won by Nora Stammers' team (with Joy Arrow and Derek Fifield) in a close run match 22-18 over Keith Searle, Cath Aldam and Graham Aldam. The Two Wood Pairs was even closer, with Joan Winer and Ralph Bailey just edging Chris Attwell and Jimmy Green 20 -19 on the last end with the winning shot.

In other men's competitions, Graham Aldam took the Handicap singles, beating Peter Edwards. Andrew Aldam won the Also Ran final 19-14. After an even first seventeen ends, Andrew proved just too strong for Men's Captain Don Gullett.
The Two Woods saw Keith Searle beat Peter Edwards 18-2, but Peter then got his revenge, partnered by Tom Chapman beating Keith and Don Gullett in The Pairs competition 28-13. The Men's Triples completed the programme with Tom Chapman, Keith Jakeman and Keith Searle winning 21-10 from Don Gullett, Dave Beven and Peter Edwards.
